Great to see everyone! Good History

01:31:41
That was excellent.

01:32:07
anyone with a question next?

01:32:33
Very informative I enjoyed that talk

01:33:41
Really really nice talk!

01:34:45
I've just ordered the book too!

01:35:02
Yes, excellent indeed. It also reflected the early establishment of the multicultural nature of Belize.

01:44:57
Hello, Mike, Thank you very much! I think many Belizeans would appreciate hearing your presentation on Col Despard. I certainly did.

01:49:01
One of the big problems is the lack of direct flights to Belize from Europe - can Belize influence or lead at the international level such flights?

01:50:49
The issue with Europe also has to do with the way Europeans travel. They tend to want to come in on charter flights and stay all in the same hotel.

01:51:08
We do not have the hotel capacity to accommodate this type of travel trend

01:52:05
Therefore the target has to be high end Europeans who do not travel this way

01:54:37
Yes, the independent tourist seems to be the market.

02:14:03
always a treat to listen to Victor...

02:23:59
Hello. I’m Karen Patnett Templer

02:25:57
Can I ask if JOHN BURTON can let me know if he is here please?

02:30:27
Excellent presentation Val. How do we take advantage of the moment to get a new momentum on a national consensus on fine-tuning and implementing the obvious policies required? A all of society national covid recovery Council is part of it.

02:30:41
Will's prognosis was too bleak for Zoom!

02:45:02
Is there a large enough spend from education tourism?

02:54:26
Great to hear discussion on diversification of the tourism sector in rebuilding post covid and the protection of resources

02:56:35
With reference to Jake's first question, I think that's what Jaime was saying--that there hasn't been any real assessment monetarily of educational tourism.

02:59:18
Well done all speakers. Excellent stuff.

02:59:23
Wonder words to hear from Ms. Valerie....BACK TO BASICS! My sentiments exactly. My goal is to highlight the diabetes epidemic and the need for BACK TO BASIC” nutrition and wellness. Thank you.

03:00:14
Tourism spending of any type increases GDP but isn’t the point to have the profits remain in Belize and doesn’t this have a large effect on the kind of tourism infrastructures that we strive for and the type of investors we seek?

03:00:51
Thank you all. Great questions and discussion.

03:00:52
Neil I could have significantly contributed so didn’t...

03:04:08
Neil thanks for the invitation to participation. Good discussion and hope it continues. best wishes to the association.

03:06:33
please excuse me as I need to leave at this time. a very good event

03:08:06
thank you very much for your talk/discussion

03:19:17
I recall when I was at SJC High School in Belize in mid-1970s, Peter’s ‘Geography of Belize’ was my first comprehensive geographical introduction to my country. His book did so for thousands of Belizeans and increased the curiosity of many to travel in Belize more and getting involved with its natural enviroment.

03:23:46
Thank you all so much for the discussion(s). Really insightful. Unfortunately I have to go now

03:24:24
Thank you Neil and the UKBA for the invitation to participate and for the tribute to Peter.

03:29:59
Neil and David, would it be possible to get a copy of the photograph of Peter at Xunantunich? I have worked for about 10 years at the site and it looks considerably different now.

03:34:24
The filming of the event, and I think the slides and photos, will be posted on the UKBA website. Neil is looking after that side of the event, but I know we’d like as many people as possible to enjoy/ benefit/ share from the occasion.

03:38:24
that photo was a great day. 2007.

03:38:55
Apologies, but I was overcome with dizziness. I am feeling better now.

03:39:13
Glad to hear you recovered. Take care!

03:41:12
Hi Everyone - Barbara Bulmer Thomas has just messaged me to apologies but she came over with dizziness but she's feeling a lot better now

03:41:43
Good to know that Barbara is feeling better.

03:44:24
This has been great - especially so given the circumstances. But I have another call lined up in 3-4 minutes or so, so I have to go. Thanks to Neil and all participants.

03:47:18
I concur with Patrick, this was wonderful. I truly enjoyed the presentations, the discussions, and the opportunity to connect with so many folks who share a research interest in, and love for, Belize. Thanks for opportunity to join in. Cheers.

03:53:25
This was a wonderful meeting, and Neil an ideal moderator. I apologise, but I have to leave for a 7pm meeting. I really enjoyed all the speakers and discussion as well. I too will miss Peter greatly.

03:55:17
Inspiring individual who has had direct impact on my research as a GIS student this year. Thanks to Neil and all

04:14:56

04:15:32
